About our school

Located on the Eyre Highway, the small town of Penong is 70km west of Ceduna and 850km north-west of Adelaide. Penong Primary School is situated at the turnoff to the world-famous Cactus Beach, Point Sinclair and Blue Lake. The school was opened in 1899, and the original building still houses our administration team.

Our small school serves children from Penong and surrounding areas, including Fowlers Bay and Coorabie. Penong Primary School is supported by farming families, local service providers, community members, the local surfing community, and an Aboriginal homelands community.

At Penong Primary School, we are committed to providing:

  • quality, inclusive, and accessible education in a stimulating and supportive environment that is fulfilling for both students and staff
  • opportunities for every student to succeed and prepare for life in the wider community.

Our school has a diverse student body, with 38% identifying as Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander. We support children from Preschool to Year 6 and run a Playgroup for young families.

Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities, helping us deliver a well-rounded educational experience. All students are provided with individual devices to enhance teaching and learning.

We place a strong emphasis on student wellbeing and employ high-quality, evidence-based, equitable teaching practices to support all learners.
